Our large-scale energy storage system, the idyl.tower, offers exactly that – and more. In addition to short-term and seasonal long-term storage, it also functions as a tri-generation storage that enables sector coupling – by supplying electricity, heat, and cooling.

Our approach is to think about energy storage holistically. That’s why we use water and sand as storage media: both are ecologically safe, risk-free to use, and enable regional supply chains. This strengthens independence from other continents.

Limitations are a thing of the past: Thanks to its modular design, individual units can be expanded into an idyl.cluster, allowing for unlimited increases in performance and capacity. With this globally deployable key technology, we create the potential for more purpose, more impact, more power to the people – and unite economy, ecology, and social consciousness.

Our storage technology follows a simple natural principle: we use heat, cold, pressure, and gravity to generate airflows – the same principle that creates wind on Earth. We use these airflows to drive turbines and reconvert the energy into electricity. That’s why we refer to the idyl.tower as a thermal-gravitational storage technology.
